Instructional Facilitator/International Baccalaureate Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Instructional Facilitator/International Baccalaureate Coordinator is a member of  the school leadership team and is responsible for the effective organization of the IB curriculum program.  Under general direction of the principal, the IF/IB Coordinators are assigned to Park, Intermediate, Middle and High School campuses. Developing, selecting, and improving instructional plans and materials, along with preparing, administering, correcting assessments and maintaining required records will be expected. The IB regulations are published in the Coordinator’s Handbook and supplemented by Coordinators’ Notes and instructions from the IB offices in Cardiff and Geneva.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • To oversee the implementation and delivery of the IB curriculum
  • To maintain communication between the school and the IBO regarding training, conferences, application information or general questions
  • To keep complete records of IBO publications on file and distributes them as necessary
  • To ensure that appropriate student records are maintained
  • To ensure that appropriate textbooks, resources and facilities are available
  • To organize internal assessments and the standardization if internal assessments according to IB criteria
  • To contribute to the presentation and promotion of IB within and outside the school
  • To ensure that information on IB – its aims and requirements – is given to students
  • To oversee the student selection process
  • To accommodate transfer students by liaising with their former school and/or providing the receiving school with necessary information
  • To provide comprehensive information on IB, face to face and through appropriate documentation
  • To ensure that parent meetings are organized on a regular basis
  • To ensure that parents understand the IB assessment criteria and that they are kept informed of the child’s progress
  • To arrange for portfolios of achievement, records of achievement and IB certificates to be distributed to parents
  • To update Units of Inquiry
  • To attend IB trainings
  • To correspond with IB trainers and schedule summer staff development in the areas of inquirey-based teacheing, alternative assessments and other IB topics
  • To order materials and maintain the IB Curriculum Resources
  • To mentor and train new teachers and faculty members
  • To plan, oversee, and host the required IB exhibitions (grade level specific)
  • To counsel and schedule IB students (9-12)
  • To coordinate community service projects, extra-curricular activities
  • To serve as proctor for all IB and AP examinations (9-12)
  • To provide letters of recommendation for all IB students (9-12)
  • To coordinate IB Awards Ceremony (9-12)
  • To download and copy all pertinent teacher materials as provided by IBO and College Board
  • To requisition all specialized supplies, materials for PYP/MYP/DP/AP teachers
  • To be in charge of record keeping as required by IBO and College Board
  • To order, receive, secure and ship all official examinations for IB and AP (9-12)
  • To provide examination scores to colleges (9-12)
  • To perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by employee’s supervisor, the principal, associate superintendent of  learning, or the superintendent

Education

Minimum of  Bachelor’s Degree with an accredited educational institution and International Baccalaureate training. Other requirements per job description.

 

Experience

Minimum of one year of teaching experience, preferred, with Highly Qualified designation status.  Other requirements per job description.

 

Certificates & Licenses

Valid Arkansas Teachers License with necessary requirements to meet ADE certification accreditation standards for the position. (Could be N/A according to the position)

 

 

 

Computer Skills

Ability to apply basic computer programs (spreadsheet, Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, others) to enhance job performance. (Others could include e-School, HAC/TAC)

 

Other Requirements

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community.

Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all federal, state, and district requirements.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional documents.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and the general public.
