Maintenance/Warehouse Worker
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance JOB STATUS: Full Time
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: N/A REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Maintenance & Transportation
GRADE/LEVEL: N/A AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED: See Essential Duties

POSITION SUMMARY
All maintenance and custodial employees must display a good attitude with fellow employees, respect for co-workers and superiors, a friendly smile when working around and dealing with children, patience and kindness when dealing with problems relating to children and adults, desire to do a good job, willingness to learn and try new things, ability to follow directions, and an understanding that the principal or designee is in charge of the school and makes all decisions.
General duties of the Maintenance Department employees, identified as Maintenance Workers, is to help maintain facilities (interior and exterior) in a safe and useable state, meeting all federal, state, school district laws, policies, regulations and procedures. Different workers will be assigned to specific types of trades depending on employee qualifications and school district needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Routine work includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Report to the Maintenance Department
- Supervised by the Maintenance Director and the Maintenance Supervisor
- Preventive maintenance for all building systems
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Appliances
- HVAC
- Roofing
- Welding
- Inspections
- Painting and waterproofing
- Grounds
- Carpentry
- Security
- Fire Protection
- Safety
- Concrete and asphalt
- Furniture repair
- Glass
- Deliveries
- Lighting
- To perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by employee’s supervisor, the principal, or the superintendent
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Competency Statements
*Knowledge of the schools and HSSD policies and procedures
*Evidence of strong commitment to quality education
*Evidence of strong organizational skills
*Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills
Education
Minimum of high school diploma or GED with an accredited educational institution and job related training. Completion of additional educational levels will be required per job description.
Experience
Minimum of one year of job related experience. Other requirements per job description.
Certificates & Licenses
Any valid certificate or license to comply with the necessary requirements to meet the position’s essential duties and responsibilities., including a current Arkansas Drivers License.
Computer Skills
Ability to apply basic computer programs (spreadsheet, Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, others) to enhance job performance. (Others could include APSCN, HAC/TAC, NWEA, TLI)
Other Requirements
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all federal, state, and district requirements.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic math operations to meet job expectations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations appropriately to meet job expectations.
